The time has passed when honest souls can remain silent and be considered innocent

((((( My creative energies have dried up as late, so I'll just post some prose I wrote in a notebook a few years ago while living in South America. paz y amor. john.))))))

The time has passed when honest souls can remain silent and be considered innocent
A call to arms for today
In harms way
Still we stay
To everyone not yet dead
To everyone who can still dream
To everyone who can still breathe
LEAVE
Leave the place that is crushing you
Leave the place that is suffocating you
Leave the United States, let them have it. It will be a wasteland without you
The time has passed, their world wont last

To everyone not yet dead:

The time has passed when honest souls can remain silent and be considered innocent. The world is dead and dying and as the world crumbles around us we are stuck in paralysis, thinking ourselves too small and the problems too great. We accept our misfortune and even grow close with it; after all it could be worse. We begin to question, and then decide that we are already living our best option. What may have once sparked outrage we now accept with little other thought. We have given up; and we are dead.

But on this graveyard planet there still exists life. There exist people who not only have refused to accept this world but further have begun to build a new one from the ashes of the fire. The ghosts respond to this threat of life and surround them with guns, but their weapons do nothing against our smile. A war has broke out, the last war. Choose a side. Apathy is not an option but rather a decision to join the ghosts.
